Brianna Gabrielle Basanta
Instructional Designer
Brianna Basanta is an instructional designer for the Division of Continuing and International Education's Distance Learning Institute. She collaborates with faculty to create quality courses for online learners. Brianna considers herself a lifelong learner and believes that so much is possible in the online environment. She enjoys designing from the learner’s perspective, creating opportunities for student engagement, and the use of interactive tools in the online classroom.
Prior to the University of Miami, Brianna earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida International University (FIU). While completing her degree she got her first look into instructional design when she was hired as a course developer for FIU Online. After graduating, Brianna became an instructional design assistant with FIU Online. She quality certified several courses for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and wrote for FIU Online’s internal news publication, Insider. Brianna was also part of the department’s newsletter committee, where they showcased several best practices for faculty teaching online.
Brianna is currently working on her master’s degree in conflict analysis and resolution from
Nova Southeastern University and aspires to teach online.
